Tinkering with the bike.

Pretty new to the forum and I haven't posted any pictures of my bike up yet so I thought I would put some on of my NC29 which I am turning into a track bike. Bought the bike about a month ago for £300 with years MOT and Tax, but needed a bit of work doing to it. So far fitted new chain, sprockets, rear wheel, rear disc and body work but still a bit more to do. I have sprayed the bodywork with spray cans from Halfrauds and as this is the first time I have sprayed anything like this, should I spray it with a laquer, what does thgis do?

When I bought it...

and after todays tinkering.....

Looks nice mate..

Im not an expert at spraying but would recommend using laquer.. It will protect the paint a bit and give it a nice shine (like gloss paint)

Yeah get it laquered.
Youv'e done most of the work now and should be impressed with yourself so get back to Halfrauds and purchase thier cans of laquer then sit back and admire your handywork.
8-)

Cheers guys, I think I will give the fairings and tank a coat of laquer over the next week or two, there is nothing to lose. I can always spray it again if it goes wrong! I was planning on adding a few decals and I read somewhere that it is often better to laquer over these so that they don't peel off over time, has anyone tried this?

The fairings and seat unit are Tyga ones and I bought them from Graeme France, they just needed a bit of patching up with filler, sanding down and painting, I am really pleased with them. I am toying with the idea of replacing the front mudguard with something that looks a bit more suitable, not sure what yet though.

Remember to get petrol resistant lacquer for the tank.

I think you need to think smaller can - because original one ruins all view. But I like the paint and how all done. Good bike !!!

The subframe is the standard one but cut down a little so that the seat will fit over it.
I chopped the back of the frame away where the pillion seat lock is located, and then cut off the larger raised bit where the passenger seat bolts to the subframe and rewelded it so it was flat and flush with the frame. swdesigns, I can send you some pictures if you want.

PARUS - I have an ART can that came with the bike but haven't fitted it with the new bodywork yet, will see what it looks like but a stubby exhaust might look better.
