2 questions for experienced builders
1. When fitting a lightened crank (not 100% sure on how much yet) do I need to fit standard bearing clearances as per the manual or do I go for a bigger clearance? (I have heard tales of fitting the largest bearing size regardless for lightened cranks in racing)
2. Is there a rear shock that nhas good rebound and compression damping characteristics that might suit the NC29 stock if fitted with the appropriate spring?
I am considering picking up something like a CBR F4i or similar vintage fireblade shock, fitting a race tech spring that suits my size, grinding off the top mounting lug and fitting a suitable sized rose joint for ride height. Is this a good option or bad option?

Re: 2 questions for experienced builders
yellow bearing all round, which gives the largest clearance. you want that crank spinning free. plus extra oil doesn't hurt. we linished my crank aswell so its slightly undersize.
as for the rear shock. the std shock seems to work well with the right valving, iv'e got a seperate resovoiur added with compression adjustment. but from memory i think iv'e heard of people using 600 shocks. don't know exact models etc.

if you can stand the wait of mr manley,he can mod the 29 shock with res(rgv or fireblade) with a weighted spring
ive had the 600 shock done on my 23 by him...and as you know, with nothing more than that and a ram airbox,47.0 at the island...should have sorted the head steam bearings for the 46.
yellow bearings are a std rb import bearing no matter what you ask for,
they work well

Re: 2 questions for experienced builders
Yeah I have another stock shock, and am debating whether to give it the treatment, or whether it might be just as workable to respring and add some ride height to a CBR600 or 900 shock.
The TM one I have I'm not 100% sure on, I have maxed compression and min rebound and it still isn't quite right.
ON the crank, yellow bearings, sweet will order them. Do I do anything with the conrod shells? I forgot to ask.
