My rear brake is making a squeaking noise... Please help
I went for a ride yesterday on the NC30 and at slow speeds I started to hear an intermittent squeaking
noise which seems to be coming from my rear brake. When I give the caliper a bit of a push
it seems to move around a little bit. Then I inspected the caliper bracket which seems a little
slack to me as well. Is this normal or is something loose that I cant see? I recently had the pads
changed at a shop and its been fine for weeks. If I cant solve this problem its back to the shop
I guess....

Re: My rear brake is making a squeaking noise... Please help
The rear calipers on mine have some play in them (you can move the caliper slightly, but not the bracket!), not sure if it's a floating type or just the mounting arrangement.
Brake squeal usually comes from the back of the pads vibrating on the pistons. Copper grease (e.g copaslip) applied to the back of the pads usually fixes it.
If in doubt take it back to the garage for an opinion.
Have you got a pipe for your bike yet?

Re: My rear brake is making a squeaking noise... Please help
I have ordered a Fuel exhausts pipe for mine and been waiting patiently for it to arrive in the post, I'm hanging out.
If I had a pipe on it already I doubt I would of even heard the squealing, lol. The caliper bracket seems to be
a floating setup since I cant see any bolts retaining it. What holds it in place then? The wheel? After I gave the caliper
a bit of a move around with my finger it seems to briefly stop making the noise, well pushing it up and down the driveway
neway. After I'm doing 30 km/h I cant hear it at all. When I am in a carpark going slow I can hear it clearly through my
helmet goin, squeak, squeak, squeak. I've checked all the bolts I can see and they all seem nice and tight. Maybe I need
a new rotor or just some copper grease like Dataracer has suggested. I really hate taking anything mechanical to a shop,
but I dont have the tools required just yet to access some parts of the bike.

Its possible that the little spacer that goes behind the pad isn't in place? or maybe the caliper mounted isnt seated in the swing arm correctly?

mine squaks to, like said I think some copper grease on the back of the pads will sort it. I've heard my front ones doing it too. I don't hear it now the baffle has 'magically' disappeared from my can

+1 on the copper grease.
might also be worth cleaning the disc with some brake cleaner (and allowing to dry of course) and lightly sanding the pads (disc side) while they are off. has worked a treat for me in the past when then get contaminated with chain lube or summink.
