Early ('89) NC30 forks

G'day,
My NC30 is an '89, so oldschool damping rods with preload adjustment only. I have some dreams of fitting an NC35 front end... but I think it's time to be realistic and see what I can do with the current forks.
The suspension is completely shagged. The previous owner had rebuilt them (using new oil, but old springs), and fully preloaded, they still dive and pogo like they're filled with nothing but air.
I'd like to know whether cartridge internals can be sourced and dropped in easily
. As well as being my country runner bike (when accompanied - Australian licence restrictions), I'm getting started on the track, and this'll be my weapon. I'd really like something that offers a good level of performance (obviously) and adjustability, so that I can experiment/adjust and learn. So ideally something with preload/compression/rebound adjustment.
Will the current forks take a cartridge kit? If it's not plug and play... do suspension specialists do this sort of conversion?
Thanks for any advice.
