Hey all,

I rebuilt my forks with all new seals and oil a few months back and haven't ridden with them yet, but they seem to be leaking a bit on movement. Now as far as Im aware, I fitted everything how it came apart.. The stanchions don't have any obvious rust or damage to them...

Does anyone know where I should start looking as I cant think why they'd be leaking... Im going to take them back off the bike and have a look but just thought Id ask first..

The leaving it standing may have caused the seals to weep.

Thats interesting.. Ive got to put the bike through its MOT so can't really try bedding them in.. Is there any way of getting round an MOT other than going on a rainy day?

Did you buy cheap seals off ebay? I made this mistake twice - rectified by buying better quality items.

That shouldn't make any difference.

Cheap seals work ok, they just have more friction than the good ones. Your seals may have been damaged when they were slid over the fork legs. There is a circlip slot at the top of the leg and it's edges are quite sharp and will damage a seal as it is slid on. You need to put tape over the slot before you slide the seal on.
