Is it possible to romove the velocity stacks on nc35 carbs by just removing the airbox for access? if so how? ive had i little tug at them but dont wanna force them without knowing how they come off

you need to slacken / remove the airbox plate, then if i recall they can be worked out then tony

I think so, you need to remove the big cast plate that holds them together though which I think is just the 8 machine-screw head screws, two per carb. Never tried it with the carbs in place.

Paul...When you say "worked out". how exactly do you get them out? The new ones i have look as if they push in and lock to prevent them falling out. do they twist out? squeeze the lugs in and remove or just a good old fashion tug?

tony,can i ask why are you changing them ?
i thought the longer VS give better midrange and the shorter VS better topend and RVF carbs are meant to have good midrange anyway so surely taking away from the midrange is taking away from the carbs themselves.

To be honest ive just too much time on my hands and just curious as to weather the shorter stacks will give any top end gain. Its gunna have some time on the dyno soon aswell so will be nice to do some back to back testing

I was thinking of putting some longer nc24 stacks on my road nc30 teh other day to see if they would have any effect on improving the midrange at the expense of a little top end (cheaper than 35 carbs!).

IMO not many separate induction mods like shorter nc35 stacks will have much noticeable improvement on hp. Best bet is to go the whole kit as it was designed to work together.

That had crossed my mind, i have a hrc copy airbox sitting doing nothing so i may gather up the rest of the parts. I know the NC30 HRC setup runs an open airbox but am i right in thinking the 35 setup does use a box?

Yeah it does use a box (no filter).

Do you have a copy of the parts manual (silly question perhaps)?

All the parts focus really on top end power (cdi, stacks, carb kit, exhaust, etc). My nc30 with hrc induction, zorst, cdi etc would definitely not be very suited to the street.

Back to the original query - slacken but don`t remove the 8 screws holding the carbs to the central air tray casting then just turn each bellmouth until the tabs on its lower edge line up with the slots in the casting and remove bayonet fashion...
