Advice/Help Required.

Im looking to tweak my airbox/carb set-up over the winter and for what i have in mind it requires some more space around the carbs/airbox. Im planning on replacing the current crankcase breather set-up with a stubby k&n style cone filter as it means i can lose the standard space-wasting bullturd and be congratulated with a few inches of extra room. With the exception of the odd whiff of oil, what other cons are there in fitting a cone crankcase filter? Are there actually any pro's of fitting a filter except a bit more room to fettle?
Alex

not done it on the NC30 but my '86 GSXR750 has one as I ditched the airbox in favour of K&Ns. gets pretty stinky when the engine is hot

spraying crank-case breater all over the place... get a long hose and route it down to the floor and spary it all there instead

How much of this oily liquid spray are we talking?

I did it and it worked fine, their was a fine film of oil over the actual filter but no real spray of oil over anything else
tbh all you get rid of is a pipe going to the airbox, looks cooler but apart from that theirs very little it does.
Had to put mine back to standard cos for racing you have to have all vents running to a container, like the airbox

Mine just runs down the left side into a cut out in the frame

You can have a tank to catch it if you want.
There probably isn't a lot but over-time it does tend to leave a greasy film over things.. helps protect bike from rust ^_^ but it makes things dirty

I think im going to give a k&n crankcase filter a try and after a few thousand km's check to see if its left an aweful mess. If thats the case then i'll get a catch tank fitted and route it towards the rear of the bike.
Is it wise to block the hole which will be left when i remove the crankcase breather hose from the airbox?
I was thinking of a wine bottle cork or something similar
tbh all you get rid of is a pipe going to the airbox
Thats what im actually after

I can't remember the routing, does it route the air over the filter? I'd block it up anyway, you'll be sucking in extra crap
