Steering alignment - HELP!
I've had the forks off the bike to strip, clean and replace springs/oil but now it's all back together the steering looks 'out of line'. It's either an optical illusion or there is definitely something amiss.
Is it possible to mess up the steering alignment by removing the forks and then not putting them back in the right way? Can't see how but maybe you need to do the bolts up in a particular order?
Anyone had the same problem? Would loosening all the bolts and then 're-aligning' the steering help before i tighten everything all up again (problem is supporting the bike with all the bolts undone).
HELP!
Nick.

Nick I think you will find that your forks are bent

Re: Steering alignment - HELP!
Park the bike up somewhere and walk back 10 or so paces. Have a look and see if the forks look twisted and make up your mind which way things are off.
Slacken off the pinch bolts, grip the wheel with your feet and twist on the bars. Stand away from the bike again and look again.
Check in the manual (download one) and tighten the bolts evenly and then torque them.

Luckily not bent forks
Slackened the bolts and twisted the bars method and et voila i've got straight steering again

Twisted forks - it's no biggie but you think all sorts before you reset them

tell me about it! I was thinking that I'd missed that fact the forks were bent, and wondering how the hell I didn't realise.Evilchicken0 wrote:Twisted forks - it's no biggie but you think all sorts before you reset them
