Hi Mate,

The wire is the earth and goes to the back of the fan.

The fuel tap has three positions which are labelled ON, RES and OFF just turn it respectively i.e. the top most label is the status of the tap if that makes sense?

Looks to me like the connector for the main harness is the one for the thermostat, which switches on the fan. I don't know why your wire has a loop connector on the end. I think it is supposed to connect to that sensor that is in the rad in the picture.

Of course I might be wrong, but I don't think so.

Cheers fellas, i remember takin it off the fan now!!
could u help me with another soft question? lol
which spout on the fuel tap does the vacuum pipe go on? i forget, there is one on the fuel tap on the right (3 o'clock on a watch) and one at the bottom (6 o'clock).
also will it matter that i no longer have a scottoiler on my bike and there is a cut-out on the vacuum pipe with a nozzle, which would go to the scottoiler, should i just block this with a screw??
my terminology is awful i know,

It is the 3 o'clock one. As far as blocking with a screw... you can do that, or you can just replace the vacuum pipe with a new one. (I am assuming you are talking about the black rubber hose here.)
