Considering selling my Nc30.
Whilst I was on my Honeymoon I have been contemplating my biking future and to be honest I fancy a change of pace, I have an urge to go down the enduro route and getting back to what started me off with biking in the first place being cold and wet in a field or a dirt track in the middle of no where away from gatsos and bad drivers.
When I started building my bike I had a firm idea of what I wanted - essentially a race bike for the road, it had to look simple and clean, be built with the best quality components I could lay my hands on and to handle superbly. The bike itself exceeded my expectations vastly, I love the way it looks but more importantly it is out and out the best handling bike I have ever ridden (theres been a few to choose from), and the stopping power is immense although they really only necessary for junctions and emergency stops caused by numpties on the road, otherwise its just drop it a cog or two, lean and throttle on, and grin.
The bike is now finally complete (or a close to being complete as any obsessive project bike can be), I hate to think how much it has cost to build or how many bikes which have been dismantled just for one or two components that I wanted for this bike (every bike through my workshop has contributed to this build even if it was just a quick release fuel coupling, a set of crash bungs or a carbon fibre airbox). I bought an Rvf just to supply a good set of carbs and suspension linkages.
I keep coming back to the fact that I fancy a change despite having built exactly what I had wanted (or what I thought I had wanted at the time), don't get me wrong I'm not desperate to sell the bike (and I don't need to) but I can't help thinking that if someone offered me the right money I'd let it go so long as it stayed in one piece. That said I wouldn't be sad to be riding the bike next summer (far from it infact).
Conflicted shall we say.

Re: Considering selling my Nc30.
Must be something in the air. After 5 years of owning my NC30 I started stripping it yesterday and posted off £1000 of parts today. I had a bike I was proud off, the best bits that I could afford and some bits that are are common as rocking horse shit or as expensive as hen's teeth. I've just lost heart in the bike. All I seen in the garage now is a very expensive ornament and it was time to let it go. The last time I rode it in anger was June/July and the time before that was the August before that. I'll just let others enjoy the findings I've had and hopefully they'll get as much fun from the bits as I have.
If the head says do and the hear says don't then you'll have a will I, won't I conflict. Like yourself, I've put a lot of myself into the bike, but I'm just gonna be selfish and take the money and run. SM's and green-laning is something I've not really done before so I'll give that a go and see how I get on.

Riley first of all...
That is an absolutely fantastic looking bike, the clocks from the RR are great!
How much would you be looking to let her go for? I'm interested!
Oh and a query about the clocks...is the redline still 14500? if so how does this show on the clocks? or will i be constantly over revving whilst giving it a...shall we say..cleaning out.. :)
Time and effort into a project like this is the most expensive comodity of all. Forget the money think of the work you've put in, phone calls and internet scouring for parts, bike taken to pieces (like you said) for one or two componants...legendary mate. i wish i had the temperment or passion you have for this bike. Unfortunately i don't (at the moment) i'm still part of the i want everything yesterday generation (im only 20) and i iknow people who create these, works of arts are few and far between.
I'd say fair play to yopu for considering selling it riley, i mean if you've done all you can to it...why not try another project?
might satisfy what your looking for, even if its a project enduro?
just a few of my thourghts :)

Definately something going about at the moment. Don't sell it now winters here, not the best time, get something else to pass the time over winter and then take the covers off the NC next year take it out for a few blasts and then you'll fall in love with it again, like I did mine.
Fair play though, that's a nice looking bike there.

Re: Considering selling my Nc30.
Cheers for the positive comments, much appreciated. The clockset redlines within 500rpm of the nc30's item this is one of the reasons for choosing that clockset in the first place plus they are factory Honda items which help giving an authentic look if you like.
I know what you are saying about not selling now but as I said before I'm not desperate to sell (afterall I don't have to sell it at all) if I were to sell I wouldn't take less than £3500 regardless of the time of year, but I would include full race fairings (front fairing, tank and mito seat unit) and a rear stand.
I've been out on the bike today and yes I do love riding it, I even got a compliment about the bike today from a pensioner, when I said I was considering selling she said that she was glad she had got to see it before it went!
The bike is 20 years old now (but if I'm honest I like it that way, afterall its bad enougth being done by a 400 but a 20 year old one is just a piss take, most of the components on the bike are actually less than 6 years old if not new) on an F reg. The spec of the bike is as follows:
Complete Ducati 996 front end (gold nitrated forks/yokes/wheel/bars/brembo mastercylinder/gold line calipers/etc)
320mm Galfer braking wave discs
Braided lines front and rear
Carbon fibre / mesh front mudguard
Riley fitting kit (ducati fitting kit)
Zx6r clutch perch and lever
R & G fork sliders
R & G non drill crash bungs
Harris R1 adjustable rearsets with carbon fibre heel plates
Harris fuel filler cap
Harris Sp1 can hanger
Oberon brake reservoir cap
Tyga aluminium meter stay
Tyga aluminium fairing stay
Tyga aluminium subframe (modified)
Tyga aluminium battery box
Tyga carbon fibre larger capacity airbox
Tyga Suzuka fairing (upper and lowers)
Tyga tinted double bubble screen
Cbr600rr clockset with modified loom (extensively!)
Mpl preload adustors
Black powdercoated frame
Mirror polished swingarm and sprocket carrier
Rvf carbs
K & N air filter (rare)
Ethos half system
Bead blasted standard downpipes
Carbon fibre Nws hugger
Carbon fibre/kevlar engine armour
Shiney new clutch including Honda steels (how much?!! You do know I'm fitting them myself, oh yes, right I see
)
All Led indicators and flasher relay
Ducati led clear rear light unit (with integrated indicators - not being used)
Quick release fuel coupling
wavey rear disc
Rvf dogbone linkages
Rs250 shock with 875lb powdercoated spring (yellow)
Rick Oliver 750 rear wheel conversion
Carbon fibre number plate hanger (one off)

Optimate lead

Virtually all bolts replaced with stainless allen head bolts and dzus fasteners where applicable
Any anodised parts are black!
Scottoiler - yes thats right no bike should be without one
Supercorsas!
Strong engine
Engine ice
I've probably forgotten somethings but you get the idea.

Re: Considering selling my Nc30.
Right then having given it alot of thought I am now prepared to let the bike go to a good home if anyone is prepared to stump up the cash - I've already decided what the replacement would be if it sold, its not exactly a rare bike (and there are plenty of good examples about) so again theres no rush to sell.
Anyone got a Ktm exc 200 with sump guard, hand guards, an FMF gnarly pipe and FMF powercore2 end can, with spare supermoto rims to boot they want to px? Way to specific I know!
