Exhaust headers?

Hi there guys, just started to dismantle this 3tj of mine and i see there are two holes on the manifold from cylinder two.
Im geussing there isnt much point in keeping these, can you get a replacement set with the exup valve or is it better to go with a set of race pipes?
also whoever owned this bike prior to me getting it has made an arse of the rear seat unit lock and its jammed on, solid i got the rear seat panels off but is there a way to get the rear seat off without cutting it?

It's better to fit EXUP pipes otherwise you'll get a hole in the power. You can get an exhaust farbricater to make up headers, cut the old ones and weld the new to the exup valve housing.
Or
Look for one on the bay - try breakers, it might be that you need to pay a bit more for a good set but you only need to buy them once so it's worth it.
Or
given your cam chain is old, you could consider a 600 coversion ???
I'm not sure about the pillion seat .... but it would be prefferable to "muller" the lock and not in a "Lite" way.

the 600 conversion? is it worth it? and hoe much power will it give?
Does it affect the handling?
im really wanting tiokeep it fairly original but i could be converted, how big an engine can i fit if i want to? is it possible to shoehorn in a 1000cc engine?

600 FZR foxeye or thundercat motors fit straight in with spacer plates for top end
Handling not really affected.
Early blade motors need frame cutting, so stay away from that unless you know what you're doing with the ally welder.
Insurance can be a problem... mine's insured but I limited my market, so it costas a bit more than it should.
However, the result of a 600 conversion once you've been through the hassle of getting it all to work and sorting the fuelling is a pretty fast and racy bike.

if you've got the panels of, then all you need do is bend up th thin metal 'flap' that covers the back of the locking mechanism sort o triangular shape and grab hold of the back of the 'hook' and pull it out so releasing the lock, thin screw driver helps! had to do this on mine as the lock was no good! dead easy!

The 600 conversion is worth it if your motor's tired or knackered. The 400 is however a really good engine in it's own right
400 or 600, either way when it's running well they're a lovey bike.

I'm taking my hybrid to a trackday at Oulton in 2 weeks.. should be a nice test of its capabilities

Hi agian with the exhaust questions,
Just had a right look over the headers for the 3tj and they are completely fannied, holes in each exhaust,
You guys know any breakers that may have sets for sale? possibly a set for sale among you guys?
I know a guy who could make them but im going to do my shopping before i buy!

Good sets of headers are hard to find, although not too expensive when you do.
Try a breakers or somebody breaking a bike but try to get a picture of the pipes first
