I'm putting new oil seals in my 3tj and giving them a general clean-up, just made a tool for getting the alen bolt out the damper, there's an excellent right-up here
http://www.fzrarchives.com/ipb/index.ph ... opic=22544 (although it's easier to use square bar then you can hold it in the vice and save the forks from vice jaw damage) but this is a 600 so i don't know how much fork oil to put in, yam say 80mm from the top without springs in and sliders down but i've also seen 100mm and 106mm quoted HELP

If you run the Yamaha recomendations your going to have soft forks.
Renewing the springs will help the feel of the bike and using heavier oil (I think Yamaha recomend 10wt) will also help along with varying the airgap at the top.

for the sp forks on the race bike I put 433ml of 10wt (423 is recommended I think) just to stiffen em slightly but a set of progressive springs and 15wt oil should do you with standard amount of oil to start with as you can always add more more easily than take it out!
