I am told the engines are different, the 35 being much lighter.
Is this so, and what is the difference.

they mount slightly different.
the nc35 has "better" cams.
nc35 has lighter "high" compression pistons.
the nc30 motor is painted and the nc35 bare alloy.
the nc30 has a close ratio box and the nc35 a more road based box.
the nc35 is crap ,long live the nc30 ......

the NC35 is supposed to be 500gr lighter than the 30. For me, this could be paint missing and tapped threads for the lower mountiings.

They do have different heads in the inlet area - slightly smaller inlets @m19mm instead of 20mm. Cams are slightly different in timing and dimensions/weight.

Not a lot in it I'd say....they are interchangeable in all but cdi, pulse generator and associated gubbins. All can be retrofitted between them.

I also think the genny might be slightly lighter..

All being done..the 30 rules IMO...just because..but you already know this Dave I suppose?

I like my NC30, it pulls better than my previous one, having been set up on the dyno.

My NC35 has better midrange, but the power falls a way at the top end.
I am checking it over and going right through it over the winter, so will try the 2 of them to see what I think.
I am told the exhaust is the main reason for the less HP [3?]

I think that the whole bike was setup witht he new 53ps limit in mind so a more midrange setup through the bike - wider ratio gearbox, smaller dia carbs, longer 4-2 section on the pipes etc.

See what you reckon - taking the best from both bikes is the way forwards I guess...

I am happy with either of them and will be keeping both.

The 30 has some appeal that the 35 does not, and not performance related, maybe it's more pure? a bit like the RC30/45 question , the 45 never excited me, although a "better" bike.
A kitted RC30 is a joy, I iimagine an NC30 would be also.

I've read several times on here from the pro racers that if you want 'maximum' power out of the v4 then you'll be needing an rvf engine.

In my opinion the best (track) combo would have to be an rvf engine, vfr gearbox, vfr carbs.

I think I would prefer all rvf for the street (in an nc30 frame obviously! ).

Eeuhm, anyone looking for brand new NC30 '91 engine?
Appareantly there is one in this country for sale...NOS...listed for 5.7K euro's...

this is the road i'm travelling and so far the nc35 carbs on the nc30 work well as do the 17 rear and shock linkages,thats about all i think i'd have off a '35 on my '30...
