Hi guys, just a quick question:

My nc30 has been getting very hot (past the 90 degree mark) and if i even stop at lights it creeps up more. its exposed metal frame is so hot to touch it burns you.

is this normal? what should it be for stop start riding on an average temp english day?

i tried hosing the radiator because its very clogged up but that hasnt seemed to work.

The only way to get the radiator fins clean is to remove the radiator, remove the fan and soak the rad in a bucket of soapy water for a few days. This will soften the air flow stopping build-up.
Then very, very gently poke something like a small plastic tie wrap between the fins to remove the dirt but BE GENTLE!
Do not be tempted to use a high pressure water jet at it will bend the delicate cooling fins.
Once you have done this your temp should drop to run at 80 degrees.

I cannot stress enough that you must treat the cooling fins with kid gloves and have lots of patience when cleaning it.

yes its very normal....so log as your fan works when it gets to hot then nothing to worry about.

like tony b says cleaning it will improve the cooling capabilities a little bit more :D :D

It is normal to have a high temp but consider fitting a oil cooler or clean the rad for better working. I know my nc runs about 80 most of the time and that still can produce 100'c oil temp which isnt good for oil as it dont last long then thus your engine suffers.

Not if you run the oil cooler off an hrc style oil filter attachement.

I guess they're pretty expensive and not really needed if you're not a racer?

ive got a rick oliver lower rad fitted at the mo and thats improved the cooling quite a bit.

but yesterday the temp was creeping up coz its needing a good clean,just so long as you give it a good clean every now and then it should be fine. :D :D
