buzzing noise and battery drain 3EN1
anyone had an electrical gremlin that does this?
with ignition on, the very slightest buzzing noise can be heard (it's not a fouled exup servo, that cycles perfectly at switch on)
The battery in spite of being freshly charged and working beautifully on my other FZR seems a bit lazy as soon as it's put on this bike, in harness with the little buzzing noise, this makes me think something is awry on this bike.
I left the ignition on for a few minutes whilst fiddling away with other stuff yesterday and it was enough time for it to drain the battery to a point where it wouldn't turn over (no lights or other major draw was applied during this time, just the neutral light!)
A few minutes running and it topped up again.
Stuff like indicators not flashing until the engine is on and revved a little, make me think it's just something drawing current whilst it's turned on.
If left standing, with bike turned off, the battery retains it's charge.
Any ideas?, this one is new to me!

There's a short somewhere. The buzzing is the current travelling throught the short.
draining the battery so quickly could point to a bigger wire .... so start with the solenoid and/or the starter motor ... your looking for a chaffed wire or a connector than isn't on to well.

I would double check the exup servo, put you hand on it and see if it's vibrating.
Other than that any of the relays can go into a state of confusion and do what you describe.

Even before reading this post I thought of relays from the title (buzzing noise and battery drain) had a pir light thingy that was attached to 3 others around the house activate 1 activate all, that buzzed really loud when activated, sparky said it was a relay when he fixed it..

yeah sounds like a relay somewhere more like flasher relay being cause by a shortage on the indicators wiring system. with ignition on pull fuses off one at a time, see which one realates to the buzzing noise, shud help you lead to the electrical probs.

With something buzzing and draining the battery that quickly, if you'd turned the ignition off after the battery was drained, the offending item probably would have been hot/warm to the touch, even if it was a wire shorting somewhere.
Not the best way to test as your risking fire maybe and likely to damage your battery.
