:cry: hi,,, i have a h reg gk76a!! recently on my way to work,, after about twenty mins of riding i stopped at a set of bastard lights and the bike was running fine! i pulled away in first!?! to about 1200rpm and went into second where i then i noticed upon pulling clutch out i lost a lot of power (im a car mechanic so can only describe in car terms!!) it felt like i had a plug/coil/ht lead go down on me? i then pulled clutch in as i have a bit of drag and thought it mite not of engaged into gear poperly. i went to third and back to second and it was still the same. i then carried on to work for a further 2 mins and when i got there i left it running and put it on the stand,took off my helmet and then i could here it was rattling vigourously as if on a car the bottom shells had slipped?!?! i revved it to around 3000rpm and the was no power loss at all but the rattling got worse with the engine speed. i threw my toys out my pram but carried on with my work as i was late anyway!! i then went back to my bike on my way home and the starter wouldnt turn the engine over it was like it was seized?. i put it in first and tried to jump it but as soon as the clutch disengaged it locked and wouldnt do nothing and i had to push the bike backwards in gear to select neutral?. so i left the bike there at work. yesterday i took the n/s crank casing off and turned the engine over with a spanner and i could only get half a revolution one way and then half back im confused and dont know where to look now???????? im staying late tonight at work to take the o/s case off and investigate and also i been told to checked the plugs because if there was internal damage it couldve hit the plug for some obvious diagnosis.. i would like to think i was clutch/gearbox as i have noticed before the seizure it was a bit clunky and sometimes slipped going from first to second also i have a lot of drag and can never get from second or first into neutral without a blip of throttle.. has anyone had a problem like this before or have i fucked it completely????? help me :pray: !!!!

Sounds bad, sorry to say. The gear change between first and second is normally clunky and often they won't go into neutral without blipping the throttle, so i'd say that's fine. As someone already told you, plugs are relatively easy to get to to check them but you can't really get a look in the engine from there. Taking the downpipes off would achieve more, but if you can't move it at all, it sounds likely to be the bottom end. Sorry!

Get the offside case off then you can see more of the engine than the n/side shows. Common problems are broken cam followers and bent valves due to tight valve clearences and broken connrods, tho they come through the casings and broken second gears due to being thrashed/wheelied.
