Does anyone know of anywhere I might be able to get a set of '4 into 2' downpipes for a 1988 GK73a made up (or off the shelf) in stainless? Have I got any chance or am I looking for the impossible or a winning lottery ticket?

There is someone out there with the correct sized set of bending dies to make these pipes. I believe Stripes had a set made but the guy with the dies seems to have gone to ground unfortunately.

There are people who will make them for you but be prepared for a hefty bill. I'm looking for a set to be made for my 71F and I've been quoted anywhere from £500 - £600 for a set of 4 - 1's. It may work out a little cheaper than that for me as I already have a s/s silencer on the bike - a Free Flow which didn't require the carbs to be rejetted and has a lovely sound to it as well. Good quality for a lot less than you might expect actually - mine was £112 delivered.

I'm not sure what the policy here is on mentioning companies names (as I've just done above!) but I'll risk it and I'm sure the mods will let me know if I'm out of order. Three firms who will make your pipes for you are Predator, Zorstec and Gazelle but as I said be prepared for a large bill. I've now reached the point where I've decided I'm going to have to stump up the cash as the value of the bike is not the issue for me. It's the fact that I like the bike and have no intention of getting rid of it, so a set of s/s headers and collector is a good investment.

Hi there i'm a mew member and am having problems sourcing an exhaust for my GSXR400 its the GK73A.

Does anyone know if anyone can supply a complete exhaust system. the standard is a 4 into 2 but my bike only has a 4 into 1 which the previous owner took the baffles out of the silencer

any help would be appreciated

only a hp more or less and less weight (I made a plug so i could go from one to two when i wanted or run the left or right depending on the day and was only a hp difference.), the 73a is a crappy stock header with a ton of restriction and a hidden converter in where the 4 pipes connect
:o

Do you mean a catalytic converter, surely not on a 1988 bike??

Absolutely the 4 into 1 into 2 system works great once you open the square box on the bottom up and get rid of the restriction in it...

Restricted LOL, I am perfectly happy with 140MPH showing on the clocks of a standard 400 even IF it is restricted. :scare:
