just starting 2 get 2 the finishing point of building my 3tj race bike stuck a battery in the night and when i turn the switch 2 on the fuel pump wont stop primeing anyone no why this could be tryed another fuel pump incase ther was something wrong with the other 1 still the same tho.

anyone any suggestions?

Is fuel truned on, poss air lock in fuel line.
Take hose off at carbs and let fuel flow through.
Poss a failure of pressure sensor if not.

yes the fuel was defo on.il take the pipe of at the carbs and see if it runs threw.

Are you running the standard 3tj cdi? The cdi should cut the pump if the engine is not running after 10 secs or so from the ignition been turned on. Also have you chopped the wiring loom, if so which wires?

as far as im aware the cdi has somework done 2 it.the loom has been cut down i got the bike as a ex race bike had been parked up for a good bit and was ruff so i never really done it only thing i did was tidy some wires up at the front.

should say tho the bike wasnt doing it when i got it.

Do you know any local with a 3tj so you can try swapping bits to try and illiminate the fault?

no but i do have a good few spare bits my self that i have just took of a road 3tj that i was breaking.

Hard to say really! Id maybe try the cdi as it should cut the pump on a timer ,but also when the pump has primed the carbs it should stop pumping anyway! Could be the pump thats faulty, but youve checked that! The only other thing that then springs to mind in the fuel pump circuit is the fuel pump relay switch. All are fairly easy to change to try to illiminate!
Is the pump priming the carbs?

dont no havnt checked to be honest once i seen it wasnt going of only thing i tryed was another pump because it was at hands reach and only 1 plug then it done the same so just left it at that will have a good look at it 2 moro and change a few things.

it was all working when i got the bike and im useing the same cdi etc....

Also a long shot but if the bike has been stood a while it could have a sticking float needle. The fuel would just flood the cylinder then? Does the bike run?
