am I being a cock or what? EXUP cables won't fit
I'm changing the downpipes over on my 3EN1, from rusty shyte, to bloody lovely solid, free moving exup ones.
Didn't pay much attention to the downpipe/exup arrangement when i took the old ones off.
Have been led up the garden path by the new downpipes, which had the exup pulley on back to front (couldn't make cables fit, rumbled it eventually) but now I've got the thing around the right way, the cables are even less likely to go on!
with alignment marks in line, cable 2 is about 3" too short.
Am i being a thick twat - I've not got the brain power or patience to work this out. It's had 3 hours of my life already.
please, clever people, help me.
cheers

update - progress
found an old exup system i pulled out of some old very rotten downpipes ages ago - it was all assembled perfectly. looking at it i discovered that my pulley had been put on on back to front as well as 180 degress out!. now right way round pulley cables are at bottom not top of pulley travel, everything fits.
now the fekking thing just hasn't got the guts to pull a very free exup valve.
Why do people junk exups all the time i wonder?
am going to try and adjust the cables
update 2
pulley wheel being tightened up onto the exup valve was actually stopping the valve from turning. taking the torque off half a turn and popping a second spacer behind the pulley sorted it. there you go, a self healing post.

Glad that worked out for you
Remember the cables should only be finger tight

if they are the cables are off my 3en2, i bought them brand new off fowlers, cost me a fortune too, so it must be user error.
glad to see you sorted it anyway. anytime spend in the garage is time well spent
