How can i make my NC30 faster?

Post by Frenchienc30 »

Hi all! New to this site. Had an NC30 for about a year now for trackdays. The bike is standard other than the limiter being bypassed. Can anyone tell me what other tuning mods can be done to optimise power without losing out on reliability.
Thanks Jean-louis

Do you actually want to make it faster, or just make it look/sound faster? ;)

Easiest way to gain usable power is to fit a high-flow exhaust in conjunction with a high-flow air filter, and then tune it/have a shop tune it with new jets et. all.

If you're willing to lose the 210km/h top speed, you can go one tooth down on thge front sprocket. Your top speed will be a bit lower, but you get a payoff in increased acceleration.

Those are the two cheap and easy mods. If you're still wanting to go faster after that, DON'T bother with any of the HRC engine internal googy-bits.

Get the suspension overhauled.

Forget speed on the straights - and concentrate on corner speed, (unless your local tracks are all batshit boring, with no decent technical sections) because that's what the NC3X's excell at. These bikes are 20 years old. The springs in the forks are old and saggy now, and just crying out for some TLC.

So in summation:

1 - Exhaust, filter, tune.

2 - Suspension; front and rear.

3 - Spend the rest of your "go faster" budget on more trackdays - because at this point the bottlenecking factor will probably be the rider - so get as much tracktime as you possibly can.

4 - ???

5 - Profit!

bottom line is on a trackday you not gona be a match for any 600 or 1000 on the strait, unless their seriously shit, and either them or you are in the wrong group (I have powered past a zx7r but he got me again when he found out what the twisty bit does  )

sort you suspension and learn to carry corner speed and brake deeeeeep thats the best way to :poke: bigger bikes trust

and In my experiance I wouldnt bother going for a aftermarket filter....cos no-one makes them for these bike as the stock on is very good, generally its either stock filter or no filter and open airbox HRC style, and end can may help but its not going to give a majour power increase.

for a feelable power increase I say full system (can be had for £200 if you look hard enough) and get the bike on a dyno and get it breathing right.

then start thinking about ram air, head porting, remove quietening gears, total loss charging system and looseing a load of weight off the bike

Cheapest thing to go faster, quicker. Change the gearing. After that, how deep are your pockets???

- Suspension
- Tyres
- Fueling
- Weight

4 simple rules of performance.

PirateJaffa: What do you mean by brake deep? Do you mean brake late? Do you take a very tight line? Braking hard just before you tip in?

think it was me that said 'brake deep' yeh means brake late and hard, carry the brake into the corner (gradually letting off obviously or ul loose the front) up until the apex then strait on the power slowly gradually open til full power.

I was told a good line is one were at the apex you start to put the power on and it should be one fluid movement without forceing you to change line or anything, and also you should either be on the power or on the brakes nothing inbetween this costs you time and unbalances the suspension

for the record, im not rossi, I dont claim to be and their are probably (definetly) better/faster riders than me on here but I always look for riding tips, from people I trust and respect, and this is usually what im told
