Electrical Problem/Fuel Pump?

Post by M1K3 »

Hello, I own a Fzr 400 rr exup 92 jap importo. Bike ran spot on, until this morning! Normaly when I turn on the ignition I could hear the fuel pump starting to work...this moring nothing :( The second time I tried to start it the starter motor turned over but the engine wouldn't fire.

Came back to it tonight the starter motor wont even turn over, aswel as not hearing a blink from the fuel pump. Could it be a problem with fuses? Stupid question but where are the fuses/fuse box, couldn't find them?

All the lights work, horn, lights on the instuments lite up (relevant or not i dont no), pulled the fuel pump out, tested it on multimeter voltage was getting through. Fuel pump wasnt blocked either.

Any help, suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

did you put a live feed directly to the pump to see if it will run,
as for starting it sounds like it may be the starter solenoid.

If it was the solenoid the fuel pump would prime but when you went to start it there would be either nothing or a click.

So

Test the battery with a volt meter you should have about 13v. If the battery is ok then (god where are the fuses !!!) check the fuses which I think are under the rear panels on the side of the subframe. There's also a main fuse on the soleniod check that too. After that it's a matter of looking through the wiring for something broken.

could be the relay under the rear panel as well, (the big black one) cos if that is dead you wont get any power through when you turn on the ignition. do you get any quiet clicking near the rear seat when you turn it on? mine did that for a while then died properly!
