Oil seal for gear selector shaft

Post by bear4 »

Hi there,

Small bit of oil leaking from the gear selector shaft on my NC39 Super Four, just wondering how do I change this?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Bear, not sure if you have got your problem sorted now? my cb400 superfour had the same problem, which i intended tackling prior to discovering my electrical woes.

As far as i can gather from what the guy in the Honda dealers told me after he had looked it up, the oil seal for the gear shaft fits a few Honda models, it cost me 3 quid and this genuine honda part says on the packet for CB400/CB500 and CB1100 part number 91203- KA4-771. ianyway im sure the Honda dealer will be able to asisst if this is not for your bike.

I have still yet to fit it, but they should just pop out ,carefully using a screwdriver or oil seal puller tool.
The new one , grease it and push it in using a similar diameter socket if possible.

When you do come to fit the seal tape up the splines on the shaft otherwise they just might cut the lip.
