vc engine question
Hello all i am Steve from somerset, i'm new on here. I bought a 400 bandit on ebay a couple weeks ago. Its apparently a 1995 bike imported in 2003, 20000 kms on it and says VC on the engine, i know its the variable valve one, but that is about my knowledge of it. I got it cheap because there is a hole in the block from a conrod breaking.
What im trying to find out is if the GK76A bottom end i have will fit? If it helps the frame number is GK7AA-102610 and the engine number is K716-102608
Steve. (copied from new members section just incase not everyone reads that one)

Re: vc engine question
hi steve
here is some insight
K705,K706,K707,K708,K712,K716 subs are very similar and can bolt in across the frames of bandits RFs and the gixers (GSXR) how ever there is a small kicker GK 71 GK 73 GK 75 frames accept all motors but the bandit frame (GK75) must have bandit head fitted to the sub same with RF but the Gixer GK 76 can only hold the K708 and newer this is because of the frame down tubes the casting was modded on the left side rear crank casting bolt is 5mm shorter and the engine mount bracket moved 8mm inwards same with RF but not a problem for the RF or bandit due to no down tubes so for your GK 7AA bandit any engine with the eng number of K706,K707,K708,K712 will bolt straight in make shur it has a bandit head due to frame mounts (RF got same head) how ever the K716 uses a Hi-Vo cam chain all older ones use roller chain K707,K708 use a narrow chain while the K705,K706 use a wider chain cam sprocket can be swopet arround as needed but Hi-Vo chain and roller chain have differant chain gauids K708 has a spin on oil filter
if you want to rebuild the motor you can bitsa build all top ends fit on too all castings just vc motors dont have studs in the center but 4 long bolts you can use non vc castings with vc top end only mod needed is above the clutch open the casting hole thats molded shut (k707) remove the oil galery blank stopper plate use a baffel plate from your vc motor it holds galery plug in the K706 casting has no molded breather point by the clutch so get creative next up any crank and rod set from the motors will fit but K705, early K706 have a 28 mm big end and 15 mm small end later K706 and all motors there on have 30 mm big end and 15.5 mm small end all rods interchange based on big end size the GK 76 and RF has straight cut pri gear so use with its clutch and oil pump gear the RF and GK 7AA have smaller alternator fly wheel and crank end also smaller 250 bandit and gixer bits can mod to fit lastly make shur of cam chain fitment with sprkets and tensioner and bolt up oh i must also note the RF has a longer output shaft due wider wheel any more info call me +27722111244 or e-mail me interbikehq@hotmail.com

Re: vc engine question
Top info there Templin.
Other difference with the VC is the oil supply from under the motor to the VC oil actuator 14mm x 1.5mm hole is blanked off, would need drilling and tapping.

Re: vc engine question
hi steve the sub will fit just use the cam sprockets that comes off a K707/K708/K709 as it uses 215 FTH cam chain unlike the GK7AA motor which uses a Hi-Vo chain and use the matching cam guide and tentioner blade the rest will bolt straight to gether oh and the center four studs must swop at the lenght differs due to the VVC actuator been in head and use old motors starter clutch then bolt up and enjoy
