Can someone tell me if the fuel pump should continuously run when there is no fuel to pass,
EG.emty tank and lines,
I ask this as i am wiring up my hybrid foxeye harness,3jt tank fuel sender,
When i switch ignition on the fuel pump only runs for 5 seconds,is this normal, remember no fuel
in tank.

Pump has 5 second prime when ignition is switched on and then is powered continuously once engine is running.

Powered does not necessarily mean stroking... once the discharge line pressurises as a result of the floats closing the inlet needles then it stops until the pressure drops again. This is done by a mechanical mechanism in the back end of the pump.
