why is the temp. not working

does anyone no why my temp. gauge dont work. bought a new set of clocks and still dont work. someone said about the temp. switch would this be the cause ? if so any ideas were this is any pics would be help ful.

They'll prob be a little connector on the rad. should be the temp sender.

I thought mine wasn't working but it was. It was only moving a little though, which is either the bike running really cold or some sort of malfunction, as before it was re-built it used to go up much further.

could be running a bit rich. you could try turning the fuel screw in 1/8th of a turn at a time until you reach the stage that the engine only just keeps running at idle. this a slow idle from a lean condition. at this stage the temp. may rise and the temp needle will rise. also you will note the extra heat fom the exhaust may make some smoke as it burns off oil and shit.

now you know the temp needle works, turn the fuel mixture screw anti-clockwise 1/16th turn at a time until the idle speed increses and it isnt kicking out so much heat.

i havent fiddled with it yet but the exhaust does let off some smoke. the engine gets hot but the temp needle doesnt work. shall i still try wot u said. (hope that makes sense.) thanks
