Hi,
Realy need your help.

I was derestricting my bike took the washers out of the carbs put it all back together. Took the piss to get the carbs on but got there in the end after bout 2 hours XD.
But i put it back together turned the ignition press start and nothing happens. The electric start doesnt do anything, so i bumped it and it started ok. Though now once i rev the bike the revs dont drop as fast as they did before its like it seems asive the choke is still on abit so theres not much engine braking.

I mean i dont know much about the electrics side but i followed the cable coming out of the starter motor and found the connection it links up to not far from the coolant bottle and put a multi metre between the red and black and came out as 12.6V so i guessed that was ok. Dont know what the problem is.

So could you help me with
1. Nothing happens when i press the electric start PS checked both 30A fuses by the coolant bottle where the electric start cable comes into and both are fine.
2. The revs dont drop that fast assive the choke is on

when you press the starter button nothing happens...............so the problem lies between the switch and the starter.

do you get a clicking noise at all from the starter relay?if so it means its getting power,if not then it may be at fault.

if its the latter try bridging the relay switch and see what happens.if the starter turns then you know the relay is at fault.you try this with the ignition on.

as for the other problem,how does the bike idle?it may have been set up to run with the restriction,can you verify this or was the bike already restricted when you got it?

Do the revs eventually drop down to a low idle speed (pilot screws not set right) or does it idle too high (air leak around carb rubbers)?

the bike was not restricted when i bought it. I restricted it myself and never changed anything on the carbs and it ran fine before and after.

as for problem 1 ill have a little closer look 2day, found the wiring diagram so will try to work with that.

im trying to go through this fault finding thing on the manual.
the 1st 1 it failed on (Ignition ON and switch and RUN and you should hear a click at the relay switch) there was no click

next step says Disconnect starter relay switch connector, and check relay coil ground wire. <--- what does that mean? i know its asking about continuity but from where and wht points?

next step is Voltage. and iv measured 12.4V across the relay even when igniton is off.

next step says check starter relay operation <--- how do i do that?

just put a copper wire from the + battery to the relay wire going to the starter motor and the motor started! so dodgy connection some where or something either i think the relay is focked or the switches going to it are focked

very wierd though as i never touched anything electrical when taking the carbs off
