after finding myself without an engine for hybrid2 the project kinda stalled after i had to put the hybrid2 thundercat engine in hybrid1 when its gearbox shat itself.so i needed another motor, downpipes, carbs, ecu and a whole host of other bits to complete the project when hey presto another 3tj2/thundercat hybrid came up on the for sale on the forum-here it is
its an ex race bike a bit tatty but what i expected-only picked it up today and havnt had a chance to pull it apart but it revs much quicker than my t/cat hybrid and it made 92bhp on the dyno.its going to be for track only as that was what hybrid2 was intended for till the gearbox disaster

still my favourite!!
ive got an 07 r6 shock to go on the new one,a radial brembo master cylinder and some r1 forks in modded tj yokes or i may just strip it and put it all on the freshly powder coated frame and swingarm thats been sitting in the shed since xmas, but for now i just want to get it on track and not have to use my roadbike,im not precious about it i just dont want to smash my sp to bits and its done all my trackdays for the last 3 years so it deserves a rest i think.anyway i needed a permanant home for the astralites as i took them off hybrid 1 as theres no speedo drive and i was getting paranoid after the rides when you come home and hide behind the sofa!!!

had time to strip the new hybrid and check out a few bits.its had a nice simple race loom made which has been very nicely done and looks very tidy.the frame has been modded to take the t/cat motor by having the top engine mounts removed and relocated and welded to mate up with the taller motor.the biggest surprise is the airbox which has a what looks like an fzr600 lower airbox with a plastic cover cut to shape with the 4jh air intake trumpet mounted on it.i checked the frame numbers and its an sp as i originally thought it was an rr with an sp swingarm and wheels which was a bonus.it needs some braided brake hoses(the r6 front end was removed before i bought it as was the sp shock) and a shock which i fortunately have and thats about it so far, just a check on the condition of all bearings and stuff and hopefully get it out on track will post some picsof airbox etc tommorrow as i cant seem to get any pics to upload at the moment

Have a think about the YZF750R front end - apparently lighter than a T'Cat ... upside downs 320mm dia discs too

ive got some r1 forks already in r1 yokes with a tj stem pressed in but i may use another set of sp forks ive got laying around but they need rechroming before use.the new hybrid has rr forks that have been modded by maxton apparently but i need to do some saving first!!!!

It's all been "modded by Maxton" ;)
