Stubby or Standard?

Ok I just bought some stainless down pipes to replace the ageing rusting original. Trouble is now my ageing Simmi end can spoils the show.

So im looking at those nice beawolf cans on ebay and they come in regular or stubby. Now apart from the size difference what is the benefits or drawbacks of each can?

stubby are very loud and affects the fuelling why not try something with a smaller diameter but standard lengh looks very cool

I'd give GF a call before you doing anything, he advised me to steer clear of the stubbies unless I wanted to sacrifice some performance.

I have the stubby Beowulf (oval) can and I think it's great. It's not as stubby as you might think and sounds the bee's. As for performance, they claim an increase in BHP but I haven't really felt it. I changed a whole lot on my bike though so it does feel better all over but I don't really know what's contributing to what and where, if that makes any sense. Shipping was great, got it next day. Only thing is the holes they drilled to mount it to the downpipes are slightly skewed so the bracket shaped to the can was shaped wrong. Had to re-shape it myself. But these things are hand made so I suppose it could be expected. It's good to help out a British company though. But if you are after performance do talk to GF. I've only spoken to him a couple of times and he lives up to his reputation.

Thanks for the info, well if stubbies are louder that puts me off straight away as I dont wont anything louder than what I have now, jeez it sounds like an F1 car above 6000rpm as it is. Mind you my Simmi can has no baffles either so that dont help. I only put my new pipes on yesterday bought off ebay and even those have changed the sound of the bike, more raspy than deep, it seems the down pipes have a slightly larger diameter, not sure If I like it after been used to that luver..lly deep sound for the last year. I may get the standard version of the beowolf. I did ask Mr France about some stainless downpipes but he never got back unfortunately, so Im unsure to PM him about a can even though I appreciate he is the man with the knowledge. But what ever, it looks like the standard is for me as Im not too keen on skinny types either (scratchin's recommendation)..

thanks again.

I've got one of These Fuel end cans on my NC23. I'd definitely recommend it as a similarly priced alternative to those Beowulf cans.

It seems well put together, looks good, sounds good. All apart from the budget line come with a bolt in baffle so easy to remove and reinstall. The customer service was spot on too.

I've got stainless downpipes on the bike too now.
