GK76A No Revs!

So here's the deal, I have just replaced the engine from my GSXR400 GK76A, with what I assumed was an identical engine from another GK76A.

All is up and running except for the fact it won't rev. It idles at 2000rpm but there is little or no throttle response.

I've been told the issue may be down to the CDI being different for each engine.

The replacement engine was running prior to breaking the bike, but unfortunately, the CDI i had with the replacement engine I sold a while back. I still have a photo of the CDI unit and from what I can make out from the old label it has the number 39200-35d30 on it, doing a bit of Googling I seem to find this is a CDI for a GSF400 Bandit (what year is unkown!)

Can anyone throw some light on my problem with the lack of power?

Or is it possibly to find out the actual model of the bike the replacement engine came from via the engine number?

Hi Daz,
The No. is on the Gsf list but they used about 5 different cdi's to cover the 400's and quite a few are exchangable. The usual fix is to swop the trigger/starter that fits on the left side of the crank as this is tied into the cdi. So if you put your old trigger on with the old cdi it should run.
