I had my front tyre replaced tuther day and about 20 miles after I seem to get a clicking/knocking sound and im certain its coming fromt he front wheel (I can feel it through the steering) my first thought was the calipers but I have removed them and wheeled the bike back and foward and cant still here the clicking, it seems to happen at irregular intervals backwards or fowards. roll roll roll click roll clunk you get the idea.

A friend came over and said it sounds like my bearings are shagged does this sound likely?or could it be something else

sounds like the spindle has been overtightend with the recent work being done.
undo the spindle nut pop her on a paddock stand and reset your pinch bolts.
But as you have driven 20 miles you may well have damaged the bearings.
did you do the work yourself or did you pay for the work when you had the tyre changed if you paid they are at fault and you need to call them . if you did it yourself get some new bearings and dont crank up the spindle nut untill the pinch bolts are set right and tightend or the same thing will happen again

Cheers, I Paid for the work to be done and wasnt particularly impressed tbh!, I have bought two new bearings for £7 including postage, but I am taking it back to them this lunch time as it seems far to close to them working on it to be a coincidence!

sorry its an NC30, I took it down and the guy agreed its the wheel bearings, although he reckons they were on their way out anyway as he used a toque wrench to tighten it (I saw him do it) Im supplying the bearings and they are going to replace them for free, seems fair enough to me!

only £7 including postage so not going to break the bank

fair enough glad you got it sorted.
but when you take it back make sure he knows that the pinch bolts need to be set and torqued before the spindle nut or your going damage the new ones they don't take much side load to ruin them.
Sorry if i did not make that clear but the guy doing the work should know that but it sounds like he cocked it up the first time as they were not grinding and clicking when you took the bike in. If the bearings had a bit of wear or play surely he would have offerd to do the work then for a price and not for free now.

He knows his stuff 'apparently' I am taking the bearings in myself so Ill make sure he knows to do the (four isnt is?) pinch bolts up before the spindle bolt (big one that goes through the wheel I assume?)
