Weird Electrical Problem with Temp Gauge

Hi Guys,

My NC30 is running pretty good at the moment. No problems starting, no slow cranking ...nothing.

In the last two days the bike has developed a weird (seemingly electrical) fault.

For some reason when I rev the engine the Temperature Gauge drops drastically and at wide open throttle high revs the gauge drops to basically 0 degrees. Sat idling at the lights, the gauge recovers.

What do you reckon is going on people?

Overcharging from a faulty reg/rec? Knackered battery.

Everything seems to be working just fine but not knowing my V4's temp bothers me....

Thanks in advance,
dx4

i am going to go with bad earth. check the earth to the frame on the left of the bike near the front coil. earth from the battery to the frame, even clean up the connectors on the clocks / loom

Had a poke at the battery to frame earth... - on tight
Will see about checking the earth near the front coil tonight...

Thing is the rev counter seems to drop in proportion to revs. Having a multimeter measuring the voltage it allows for the BikeComputer project its possible if the battery isnt accepting as much charge its bleeding off into the frame...

Any other theories guys?

Earth on the front coil(s)

when you take this off the temperature gauge goes weird.. if its on tight check for corrosion / follow the wire
