That's the one.
You need to round the bottom of it - it's squared
Put in some packing at the top (add a few washers each side
get new dogbones to raise the back end (by about 25mm)
The spring is hard so back the compression right off or get it changed

What bike is it for?
I put one of those on my 3TJ with Oolit's extension piece. It was OK but too hard for road use.
It now resides on my FZR1000 EXUP, for which it is just about right as it is 50kg heavier than the 400.

Its for a wg1
R6 shock seems to be the one everyone is recommending.
You recon its going to be too hard? It looks like a lighter
spring is in order then.

Hi Evil, Any diagrams (specs) of the replacement dogbones to return the bike to the default ride height ?

LOL!
...I thought you won them Mr Evil!!!
but I do have a step by step set of instructions that someone made about how to mount this shock, along with drawings for spacers and dogbones. it's for the FZR600 and at least the 3EN1 version of the 400 but I can send it on if you wish...
in fact, let me post a link to it
http://www.visorvision.co.uk/downloads/ ... to_FZR.doc.
then you can all help yourselves. leave some loose change on the way out though!
cheers

Thank for the info lajracing.
Someone happen to know the rate of the standard R6 spring?
I am (including gear) 75KG and my bike is used mainly for road riding so I am thinking I will need a lighter spring.
Any recommendations?
Are the Yamaha springs colour coded or marked in someway?
Thanks

Ignore me, I've got a 3TJ
The R6 shock has something like a 600 lb/inch spring and about 1.5" stroke (It's fkn solid)
