Restricting My NC30 (Newbie)

Im a newbie here soo im sorry if this has been bought up before
When I come to riding my NC30 I will be on a restricted licence
I have spoken to a few and some say that they dont run well restricted and feel sluggish and slow
A lad i know couldnt even bare riding his home from the garage where he got it done.
So my question is do you run derestricted on a restricted licence?
Restricted what is the 0-60 time?
Any other opinions on restriction are welcome

you will get a mixed response on this, i never had a restriction on my license so i cant comment on how it feels to ride a restricted bike.
however without the restrictor, your insurance is invalid, so you may as well not have any.
also you can get them to run ok with restrictors but you do need to have some work done to the carbs to optimize the performance with the restrictors left in

i have been riding a derestricted RS50 for a year now.
I dont like the idea of it being strangled and also imo the washers are a complete rip off, £200 is a third of my insurance

The law is what it is.. No point paying for insurance if you are not riding to the limit of your licence.
Don't be a muppet..get it restricted, don't pay £200 for the kit though, you can buy the washers have them fitted and get a dyno run for it to make it jetted to suit for cheaper..
It will still do over 100mph and then, when you can ride a bike and have a better attitude you can derstrict it and get going even faster...
Somehow I get the feeling you want the latest boring 600 as soon as you can anyways..lol

for the price I payed for my VFR, i could have bought a SRAD, i dont see the point in a 600 for the road, i mean you can exactly use it, with a full power VFR within 5 seconds you have enough speed to loose your licence, soo i dont see the point in being able to do it any faster on a 600
and anyway 600s are way to common for my liking, how often do you see a 400?
My plan is to keep my VFR for a long time.
If i can get the washers cheaper then I will restrict it, i just dont fancy giving FI £200 of my money just because I have to have them.
Next question then do you know of anybody with washers for sale?

Maybe quicker than that... My NC30 is restricted and it wasn't nice to begin with, I rode the bike home 150 miles from were I bought it unrestricted and then had the washers put in, it felt gutless after 8/9000 rpm however I've found that if your gentle with the throttle it'll pull right through to the redline, you just can't whip that thing round and expect it breathe I guess.
So my advice is try not to ride it at all until the washers are fitted because the taste of the dark side I had riding it home has only left a nagging urge and a huge temptation to remove them (I won't I know I have to much to lose, and believe me the insurance companies will check a sure fire way to keep the money!)

mate I was in exactly your shoes last year, having ridden a 50cc geared bike (yamaha TZR 50) for a year and just done my test I got an nc30, was thinking about an sv but their shit compaired IMO.
I got my bike with the restrictors and fitted them before I rode the bike, rode for about 6 months on the restrictors and only took them out because I was booked on for a trackday and didnt want to be stupidly put gunned.
Id recomend to you to get the bike restricted and get used to the bike's power first then when you feel happy and want the restrictors out take them out, but a restricted 400 will feel like a rocket ship compaired to your rs.
also all my mates were on full power bikes (2 sv's couple of sp1's and an nc30) and I never got lost a single tome by any of them and I was often getting frustrated by how slow they were taking corners and holding me up only for them to squirt the extra power on a stay ahead. If anything riding restricted made me faster than my mates who werent on 33bhp bikes.
o and now im racing my nc30

Thanks for the replies, good bit of advice that Spike, and im going to follow it,
Silgeach is emailing me the sizes of the washers soo ill get them made up and then fitted,
LOL my rs felt fast when I first rode it, id never ridden a bike before,
my plan is to keep the restrictors in till next summer.
After looking at the SV and VFR Im 100% sure I made the right decision
