My standard exhaust on my nc30 has a few scratches on the protector plate thingy (you know what i mean).
Would Wet'n'Dry + Autosol sort that out? Or very fine emery cloth?

Depends on how bad the scatches/scuff mark is and how much elbow grease you are prepared to apply.Only one way to find out.

whatever it takes really. There are a few fairly deep scratches. i would say 0.2mm deep, i dont wanna give it a go and it makes it look worse though!

TBH, i think the wet and dry might be too harsh on the Can, and it will leave an area that looks considerably different to the rest of the can. What you could do is go over the entire can with increasingly fine grades of wet and dry to remove the deep scratches and then use a cheap £8 polishing kit from thepolishingshop.co.uk ( I think) and then re-buff it up perfectly, if not better than what is was before.
You may find that the autosol would do a nice job without the need of the polishing kit, but I do fear it will be nowhere near the same result.

Personally speaking, I'd just leave it as is.

Do you think it would be possible to get a piece of S/S made up the exact same size as the current scraped one, chop off the old one, then re-weld a new piece in its place? hmmm...

You could ring around a few metal polishers and ask them how much they'll charge for polishing it up (cash in hand if need be)
I've found its sometimes cheaper than buying loads of stuff to find it doesn't give expected results...

just rang a polisher near me and they can do it for a tenner.
also they will do it while its on the bike.
May take a trip down there next weekend =)
