New Full system or Can?

Post by AussieRVF21 »

Hey all
just wondering about a new exhaust system for my rvf 400. does anyone know who does them and how much roughly?

theres a place in melbourne called sumoto that reckon they have these japanese full systems that will bolt straight on even with th tyga fairings ive got but i dont have the brand name of it,

also seen tyga cans on the net are they worth the money? ahve to consider postage costs,

also if i fit a full system to an otherwise stock setup what else do i need to change? such as jet etc?

any help would be greatly appreciated

thanks in advance

The real question is, how much do you have to spend? A can can be as cheap as £80 up to about £800-1000 for a full system. Also, what do you want from it? Looks, sound, reformance?

If for looks, decide what you like, carbon, titanium, alloy, 1 or 2 outlets. End cans only can give just as good a sound as a full system. To date, my favourite noise out of my bike was a cheap Blueflame slip-on. Since then, I've owned a Yamamoto 1/2 system with race can, Ethos 1/2 system and Ethos can, Moriwaki twin stack 1/2 system and now a JHA full system and I still think the slip-on had the best noise. If it's all for performance then you have to do 2 cans. This will allow the best set-up of the bike. It will let the bike be jetted for the front bank and rear bank individually.

Any modifications will most certainly require re-jetting of some sort to get the best out of the changes.

Good luck with what you decide and stick up a few pics of the bike.

All systems/cans will bolt on with the same with tyga fairings, nothing about the muffler bracket or exhaust routing is different to standard.

Tyga cans are pretty cheap, good value for money. The best sounding mufflers I've ever heard on rvf/vfr's are Aussie made Madaz stainless mufflers.

Not likely that you'l get a full system from Sumoto. Most aftermarket systems don't replace the front or rear headers and are referred to as 1/2 systems. Ideally yes, you should rejet to suit the system, #112's all round will probably set you right.

thanks for all that guys

im starting to think i will jsut go with a can (mainly because ive just got round to putting my bike back together after hand polishing all the frame) and i dont really want to go through all that pain again lol

i rang madaz but apparrently they stopped making exhausts last august, i would prefer to buy a brand new can as ive had trouble with second hand gear before, if anyone knows of someone in australia that makes a decent can let me know.

viper im mainly looking for a better sound thinking probly a tyga can as sumoto has them in all the time and they 're apparently brand new so yeah, the other cans the bloke from sumoto was tlking bout are japanese but second hand, so i think the tyga can is the safe option.

also how to attatch pics?? its got me f***ed lol
