Right guys,

As per previous posts i'm actually (this weekend) going to disembowel my beloved vfr nc30.

i'm looking for a laymans (simple) guide to taking my carbs off, not to complex just something to guide me as my haynes seems horribly technical.

I just need to know what to take off to get to them, for example, Take off back plastics, remove tank unit, remove airbox, etc etc. < this is as far as ive ever got by myself before afterwards not knowing where to go after the airbox...

so if anyone fancies lending a hand i'd be in your debt!

thanks guys, any responces before saturday would be best!

cheers

Lol - don't be scared of it. Someone put it together with their hands...so you can take it apart easily.

turn the bike on and let it warm up -turn the fuel off and let it drink what is left in the carbs..

take the seat and all panels except the nose off.
then the tank - , pull the hoses off
take the airbox lid off and the filter out.
undo the choke cable (front of the carbs)
take the airfilter tray bolted to the carbs off.
go and buy a long, decent pozi 2 screwdriver....we are talking really long..
have a look at the carbs and you will see they are held on with 2 x clamps over a rubber onto the engine.
undo the clamps - the bolts are easily rounded so be careful..
make sure you get all them off - the ones for the no 4 cylinder (front right) you cannot get from the right hand side, so the long screwdriver from the left should do it - if they are facing that way. you'll figure it out by now anyways...
Give them a good yank from the front and once out, pull the back off. Undo the throttle cables and the idle cable..then you can pull the carbs off the motor nad you are rocking
do one carb at a time as per the Haynes manual - it will all make sense when you have them off.

i'll let you guys know what the crack is on saturday night, unless i get it sorted by which time i'll be going for a swift full powered blast followed by a good old oiling of my own vains with beer...mmmmm...beer... :)
