I had a set of SP forks rebuilt recently
The seals originaly fitted were 9mm thick and had a 2.2mm washer fitted on top!!
I found out the correct seals should have been 10.5mm thick and fitted these.
The 2.5mm washer was not refitted as it would not go under the clip that holds the seal in place.
My question is should there be a washer at all that fits on top of the seal?
And if so what size should it be?
Logic says it should be around 0.7mm

the washer goes in after the guide, to stop the guide moving up and damaging the seal as the fork is compressed and released. then the seal, then the spring clip, followed by the dust seal. you can use the 9.5 mm seal instead of the 10.5 one but it wont last as long as it does move around slightly over time. the 9.5 seal is meant for the fzr400rr forks really, not sp
