Hi all I am not so much after advice but some reliable conformation
Bike was running rough so I phoned Mr Oliver to ask what he thought was wrong he correctly advised me I had an air leak so I pulled the vaccum hose of and discovered it had multiple holes so I got the little nut/bolt that goes on the bottom of the hose and screws into the engine and then stupidly decided to overtighten? it till it snapped so what i am wondering is if I do the fuel mod can I do away with the vaccum hose and just fill in the hole where the nut/bolt goes with some chem metal or similar instead of trying to tap out a new thread etc as this would mean having to remove the head as access is limited with it on the engine.

Technically, your right about the chemical metal thing and blocking it off for the HRC Tap mod.... but I seriously wouldnt!!! Its too much of a risk. And too much of a pain in the ass to sort out if it goes wrong.

I would try and do my best to get the broken stud out and replace it, i know its difficult because of access etc but its the onyl safe way of doing it. I would of thought that with the Water pipes off the top of the engine, and the engine dropped out of the frame, you should just be abel to gain enough access to sort it out. It is going to be tricky though..

Drill it out and tap it, the first thing that comes to mind is one of the carbtune plugs you could screw in

just be sure to stop the metal swarf from entering the engine inlets if you do drill it out and tap it. Perhaps get a good cloth and stuff it down the inlet nice and tight, then put a hoover over the inlet to try and get rid of it and prevent it from messing up your engine when you re-start the bike!

Put the drill away - the bit that`s left in there is hollow so a small stud extractor should bring it out...
