NC23 - NC29..... compatible parts

Post by bluespear »

Hi guys, I'm a newbie here.

recently aquired NC23 tri-arm 88/E model, which is in need of lots of tlc.

Just wondering how many bits of nc29 will fit on nc23 with little or no modification?
some of the bits I need are:
front forks (& front wheel if req.)
left & right pegs & hangers with pedals/levers
Left & right clip-ons
brake & clutch levers inc fluid resevoir
water pump
clutch - complete
engine/clutch/gearbox casings
twin headlight mounting plate
front discs & calipers
rear fairings/seat unit
exhaust end can (possibly complete system)

I would appreciate your help on this - cos you know how annoying it is when you buy something that looks right, but it doesn't quite fit!!!

Many thanks
Gary

Foot pegs will but hangers wont
Handle bars will.
Wheels yes though you MAY have to file the rear calliper and you will need the 29 spacers.
I was under the impression the 29 forks were shorter. Dunno if i am getting muddled up.
The adjusters on the top will swap.

ignition pick up casing is yes if you remove one of the pick ups.
23 rear sprocket carrier and 29 are very different systems so not changeable.
23 forks are longer miki but assume if needed can be just left to stick out.
seat panels are different as are subframes totally different.cant see that working.
imagine the cb1 exhaust can graft on with a bit of effort as i had the dic headers on mine but the back end was out.you can make a slip on and fit a can tho'

The airbox is different in the RRj to the RRk on the 23 so the carbs may be slightly different

Would a front track fairing (i.e no headlights) set (top, right and left side upper and lower panels) for an NC23 bolt on to an NC29? Would the front fairing brace fit, or would I need to drill new holes?

Maybe but probably more hassle than its worth as you may have to cut and realine stuff and mounting points are likely to need strengthening as wont be designed to be mounted the same
