hi guys,

does anyone know what the correct needle number is for a stock 1987 nc24?

ive got 2 sets of carbs with 2 different sets of needles and the bike doesnt run right with either set of carbs!!

now looking into swapping jets etc around to make a set that make the bike run right but need to know all stock settings as a reference.

i have been given a great deal of advice so far which has been very helpful and im now hoping someone can tell me the final tweeks to do for a cure

at the moment im running 112 main jets (4hole emulsion) in the front and 115 main jets in rear (5 hole emulsions).

pilot jets are 35

float height correct and all seated and sealing

mixture set to 2 1/4 turns out.

needles are shimmed .5mm

with these bike runs rich midrange to top end and seems a bit sluggish to respond

both sets of needles i have are the shimmed type all with .5mm shims. but cant remeber the needle numbers, soz think one set was 8bx and one 8cz but this may be wrong

ive got these main jets to play with

2 x 115

2 x 112

2 x 110

cheers dave

8zc is the standard needle (same in front and back carbs).

For some reason my account had been banned on the VFR owners club, and its now been unbanned finally so I replied on there.

You have a set of NC24 needles and a set of NC21 needles I think.

The NC21 has 110/112's and the NC24 has 115's all around.

i have replied on the VFR owners club forum but will also on here so everyone has the info for future refernce.lol

im just waiting to get the jets back off my mate then i can swap them. i have now put the correct needles in tho and also stumbled across the fact the slides i was runnnig had been modified! the air hole had been drilled out, not very well i might add!

flat spot seems to have dissapeared now so fingers crossed, throttle is more crisp too! :blowout:

what does that mod do excatly anyways? make the slides open faster?

many thanks for all the help its very much appreciated and all taken on board.hope i can help some of you in the future :worthy:

cheers dave
