Changing coolant, anything I need to know ?

Howdy guys :grin:

Well today I got me new engine bolts in as 2 was missing :o and I installed new pads too.

All I need to do now is order new bleed nipples, get some fresh brake fluid and am back on the road 8-)

Oh me final job will be coolant, I looked in rad and it looks like its just full of water :o so I want to drain that and put some fresh coolant in it, I aint sure if the previous owner looked after it or not.

So ... can someone tell me is it easy to do a coolant change ?

The manual says undo the bolt bottom left hand side, and also undo some bolts near the exhausts, is this really necessary ???

Finally do I need a special type of coolant or will any one do ?

Cheers in advance.

Matt :up:

I used this on my nc30 and it's been fine. http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/products/ ... 1893500140" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Pretty cheap as well.

The other drain locations are to completely remove coolant from the system, just drain from the water pump drain bolt.. Might be an idea to run radiator flush for 100ks or so to remove scale build up, then fill with 50/50 mix of coolant & water.. I dont think ur supposed to mix diff colours of coolant but that could just be kak...

Careful with that drain bolt mine sheared off on me when changing the coolant. I'd just disconnect the bottom hose beside the drain bolt. Its easy to put back on. Save you having to drill and tap out a drain bolt like me.
