hi, im having trouble with my nc30, i.e it wont start, it turns over but wont fire, plenty of fuel getting through so i think its electrical, i,ve checked the pulse coils and am getting the correct readings, also the primary side of the coils correct readings, but the secondary ( ht) side of the coils zip absolutely nothing, no reading at all which would suggest no resistance, and if theres no resistance i guess the coil wont hold a charge, i,ve turned it over with both back plugs out and on cyl heads, am getting very weak small yellow sparks so it would appear that the coils are shagged, but i find it hard to believe that they would both pack up at the same time, all fuses and bat ok could a faulty cdi shag out the coils maybe..... any ideas greatly apreciated

Are the plugs 100% sorted? Getting a spark, albeit it crap one, would say the CDI knows when to spark the plugs..so it surely works?

Has it always done it?

hi cmsmj1 thanks for the welcome and input, im kind of asuming plugs are ok they look fine good condition and correct gaps etc, i changed the plugs quite a while ago but not covered many miles on them as i have another bike aswell, i use the nc for taking kids out, but its a possibillity, but at fifty quid a set ...... its always started fine no probs until last week i took it out the garage pushed the button and nothing, before that it started fine. im going to check continuity tomorrow on the power supply to the coils, maybe a short there demishing power to coils .... keep you posted

have you tried the rear plugs on the front and vice versa for spark strength? if all 4 plugs are weak at the rear and strong at the front then at least you will know it aint the plugs.

Hiya, i guess if your checking resistance of stuff your checking across the pair of ht leads( ie both the leads from the front coil) not from one to ground, try taking the leads out the coils and checking the resistance at the coil incase one or both leads/plugcaps has died.

hi ian, yes took coils off this morning the back coil is now showing all the correct readings on multimeter, but the front has nothing across the ht leads, so no resistance there, this i think would account for the weak spark on the rear as the front coil is effectively "leaking" all electricity out and as both coils are supplied electric from the same circuit the rear coil must be loosing pressure as the front coil is leaking, well sounds plausible, so im going to get a new front coil and try that..... now im a bit out of touch with good parts suppliers could anyone recommend a good on line source please... thanks for all your input guys
