Bike wont start..

okay, so i took the tank off to have it resprayed, put it back on, and ran the battery flat trying to start it.

so far ive checked and found that:

petrol IS getting through the hose into the carb

the left hand side coil for cylinders 1 and 4 wasnt working, so ive replaced that with a working one....

bike still doesnt start! driving me abit insane..

ive checked the plugs after cranking it over a few times and they were wet with petrol, ive checked the spark on all of the plugs and it sparks okay...

im lost as to whats wrong.. it not even spluttering when i try to start it, no sign of any ignition atall...

any help would be apreciated..

just had the carbs off, there was petrol in both float bowls... nothing looks suspect....

i am completely clueless as to what it could be ..

oh forgot to mention i tried to bump the bike and that had no effect either, ran for all of about 1 seccond before cutting out again..

check plug caps there are 2 wire clips in each cap. they rust up and cause all kind of problems

ive already checked for a spark on all of the plugs, they are all sparking fine.

Have you tried draining a lot of fuel out of the float bowls? Used to have to do this when replacing the tank on mine. Obviously make sure the tank is in prime mode.

Are the sparks strong? If not check the earthings. Coils could possibly be on their way out. One thing that worked for me once for no apparent reason was switching the 1,4 coil round with the 2,3 coil so its still firing the same but just with a different coil.

After that I would possibly try the good old tricks like heating up the plugs on a stove. Not highly recommended but put a bit of brake cleaner/petrol down one of the cylinders and that sometimes gives it enough of a kick, have to be slightly careful because you can get good backfires on a wasted spark engine.

i completely drained the carbs and then cleaned them, prime mode on the tank? i checked and it seems to have off, reserve and then on

i had a look and the sparks didnt seem particularly strong. the plugs were also quite badly fouled.. but i did give them a clean with some wire wool and sand paper, still a no goer..

When did u last change the plugs?? Might be worth dropping some new ones in, have u checked the gap on them?? If fuel is getting there and it's sparking then it seems very odd....... as said before really if your using the old ones you could try the old warm it up trick.... just watch the fingers!!!!! Drain floats and fresh fuel and carb cleaner. I hate to say easy start (Hangs head in shame) but will it run on the jungle juice???

Is your fuel tap the vacuum type or not? Prime mode is on the vacuum type. Just wanted to check that you didn't have a fuel starvation problem from the tank because if the bike has been sat for a while the fuel drops below the jet level. If your still getting wet plugs then it prob isn't this.
Worth checking that your fuel tap is working correctly and that the fuel is at the correct height in the float bowls.
To me it sounds as though it just isnt pulling the fuel through correctly at the moment and the only things you've done is remove and replace the tank.

If the easy start doesn't work also you could try checking the ignition timing but you probably would have heard large backfires if this was the issue.
