They also need to be weighed on the same scales as 200g variation is easy. Time to start a tyre weight list?

So while trawling through the old forum I have discovered something interesting about the NC23 wheels and it seems that they are in fact heavier than the stock NC30 six spoke. Here is a quote from Rick Oliver
"Just to tie up the loose end of this thread...
I must apologise for promulgating a bit of `popular wisdom` here without first checking its veracity - I`ve borrowed some accurate digi-scales and weighed my stock of spare front wheels with the following result -
Stock NC30 6-spoke - 4.74kg
CBR400 TriArm 3-spoke - 4.76kg (oops!)
VTR1000 Firestorm 3-spoke - 4.28kg
HRC Magtek 6-spoke - 3.46kg
- all with bearings, spacers, seals & valve but no discs or tyre.
(more for the list, Kay...)"
Earlier on in that thread most people including Rick himself where claiming the 23 wheel as the lightest but it seems that isn't so true!

I can confirm this - i sold mine to someone as a spare for his nc30 and asked him to measure both if he got a chance, and he came back to me with the same reply, pretty much the same weight

My next NC30 build will be using Triumph 675 Street Triple R forks and front wheel - I`m just getting the various components together and comparing weights out of interest with my current setup (stock wheel + EBC 310mm discs vs Triumph wheel and a pair of EBCs new Vee Rotors) -
NC30 std wheel - 4200g
Triumph wheel - 3700g
EBC std type 310mm discs - 1610g each
EBC Vee Rotor 310mm discs - 1160g each
So EBC`s claims for their new, lighter discs are not just hype and I`ve saved 1.4kg of unsprung weight without resorting to the expense of a magnesium wheel...

Incidentally - those new EBC Vee Rotor discs in standard NC30/35 fitment will be included in my next catalogue update, price £150.00 each...

Rick,
Id be interested in the triumph fitting kit when you get it all together, I'm off to ebay now to try and locate some 675 front wheels, i think they are in demand so im guessing they aint going to be cheap.
Guessing this will sort out the disc pad overlap miss alignment when using the nc30 wheel and 675 forks?

I did a spell contracting at triumph and saw those wheels being designed/made. I looked at the dimensions and saw they where not far off ideal. I even had a set of forks waiting for me but they only sold ex development stuff to permies so I had to leave them behind

I`ve taken delivery of a pair of Braking NC30 discs (for a customer) today - they are a beautifully made piece of moto-art but surprisingly the 296mm Brakings at 1188g per disc are 28 grams heavier than the 310mm EBC VeeRotors.
