Re: Following on from my "3tj cdi post" such terrible runnin
Hi god this takes me back, I sold it nearly a year ago and know have its big brother the 1000! I loved that bike and had great fun on it even thought I never fixed it! I did everything on it spent hours and replaced just about everything!
There is only two things to do, one DO the valve clearances, and then take it to a dyno as the carbs do not run right on the old engine and I'm sure they will be miles out!
I just ending up riding it until I sold it an did 7k on it. You MUST have some brackets made up for the front mounts, the rear ones are not enough on there own!
Happy memories if I can help further give me a shout!
Regards
Mark

Hi rob you would not believe how Mach I had to work on it, had to replace a lot! Saying that I am in love with it , carbs in the kitchen at the mo as its lost power above 4 k just a bit but checked diaphram rubbers! Done 7k on it know and worried a few r1s etc, seen 140mph and uses a lot of oil,BUT it's my baby and get a lot of comments on it!
How's the 400 and the tank sealer problem you had?
Regards

On holiday so I'm not worried about the tank. I'll try not to seal it just clean the rust out and leave it clean.

Hi Mark I sorted the tank with my spare one the other is in the loft now,
The 400 is going well! it clocked 134MPH on my sat nav at the Bike mag photo shoot at Bruntingthorpe a few weeks ago.
The old Yam's do like a bit of oil, It affected the FZR'S, YZF's etc after a few miles,
Don't fancy another 400 then???
