Howzit

with regards to the filter above, my 3tj ate its standard filter material many moons ago and when looking for a BETTER filter ie.. K&N couldnt find one for the 400 but easliy found many alternatives for the 600.
As above used a K&n from a 600 with minor modification and put it in .. no worries ; ) [ surprised this isnt well known or talked about much?].

ps cant do the pics of anything! as dont know how to! cant see an attach button or add photo ?

Cheers Wraith.

The 1WG uses the same air box as the 3HE 600 so they're OK. The 600 was produced in bigger numbers but more crucially it was imported into the USA and Europe which is where we get or performance parts from. The 3TJ as far as I know has its own air box and I can't see a company making a filter for a relatively small market. The air filter itself doesn't add any performance but the aftermarket type can be cleaned so they work out cheaper longterm.

Resurection ... It starts

Did the drain screws up on the float bowls :? and found the plugs caps were off  but with that done it started remarkably well, although I'd better put the exhaust can on it before it runs again but it runs !!!

Been a while huh - I got distracted by the weather, wedding avaversary and stuff. dragged it out the garage on saturday, fitted up the exup. I couldn't work out why it wasn't working, it would go one way ... so there was a lot of swapping cables and then I noticed the pulley was on the wrong way round, a bit more fiddling and it worked. I adjusted the slack and we're in business.
Dropped on a (standard) exhaust can.
Did some more on the bodywork. I primer coated the top fairining and tail light surround (remember I repaired them) then wet and dried them. Tonight I put some pearl over the tail bit, I've used the Tamyia paint but I found it doesn't match Ibby's SP.

Ran the engine again, just warmed it first, then a little longer. Letting it cool I changed the exhuast nuts to proper Yamaha ones then let it run until the fan kicked it, that's also cured the paint on the downpipes.

I've also made up a little bracket to mount the chain gaurd, I'll have to drill the swingarm and use rivnuts to mount it though. Then I can put the chain on

I've tried a new pearl white paint. Got it off the bay and while the Tamiya is £6 for 100ml this is about the same for 400ml. It's got bigger mica (metalic flakes) and it's thicker than the Tamyia. It might prove to be a bit softer too, it feels that way.
Anyway it's on the top fairing

Primered up

Taken the masking off and retouched the stickers

I'll let it dry overnight then a bit of laquer and some stickers.

Another bit of time spent on it, we now have indicators  The flasher unit was duff
Replaced a headlight bulb so. now the electrics are all done.
Tried to clean up the footrests but they're pretty grubby.
Had a look at the tank, sanded back the patching to the pin holes wet and dried it and blobbed some filler on the dents. Nearly ready for the MOT
