Sorry, that's what I meant, sprayed not RE-sprayed. Went back and edited the post.

Re: Another RVF thread!
I left about 10mm as this acts as a seat/retainer for the spring, I don't think the lock rings alone are wide enough to hold the spring properly.RVFHooligan wrote:In re: Carlos: That's what I was thinking of doing. Why did you leave that last bit of shield, couldn't you just have cut it off all together?

Re: Another RVF thread!
Cut the rusty heat shield off the rear shock. These are the brake pads that came off the bike, almost like new! Nissin rear, Vesrah fronts. Calipers cleaned up beautiful. Rear spindle and hub assembly even more beautiful. Taped up the tank real good to prevent any of the harsh chemicals getting on the perfect paint, used a plumbers test plug to seal it up, right now some serious chemical reactions are going on inside that tank. We'll see how it turns out tomorrow when I seal it. I'm telling ya, this bike was like brand new, it just sat for about 10 years. I had the sticker on the front fairing translated and it's a Auction sticker, so at some point the bike was auctioned in Japan. Cheers!

Cleaning up nice... I'm doing a little cleaning on my bike too. What are you using to clean up/ degrease the parts? I have what looks like this white corosiony stuff on the calipers that just wont come off. I havent really stepped up to super harsh cleaners- just sticking with simple green, wd40, or engine degreaser.
I think you really lucked out- your stuff looks new.

Just like you said, using Simple Green, WD-40, and good old fashioned elbow grease (ouch................Advil?). Biggest factor is as you said, I lucked out and my stuff is in good shape. Like a diamond in the rough. Good luck.nas00 wrote:Cleaning up nice... I'm doing a little cleaning on my bike too. What are you using to clean up/ degrease the parts?
