Mike I'd be up for a set of std length rod Pistons and also a set of hrc rod Pistons, can you give an indication of price once you have numbers?

If also be up for it if you came over however I've never rebuilt and engine before but I'd love to give it a go with some direction!!

If I don't recall bad, Ti rods don't have the oil passage to spray the piston and cylinder, so oil should be routed along the crankcase to spray pistons and cylinders. Read something about it at Mike´s web.
Thanks for heads-up, Emilio! I did mixed up some vital info about these rods, so I just read it again on Mike's web http://mngforce.typepad.com/nc450vdev/r ... ution.html

@Mike, put me down for 1 set of 57mm bore pistons for STD rod length.
And can you explain a bit more about the "G-Force custom rods" which you've mentioned in the topic start post?
Are these the Carillo "A" beam steel rods?

The Carrillo Rods that Jason is referring to are steel. All of the rods I designed with Carrillo have oiling holes to the piston and cylinder walls.

That said, I have gone into great depths to add an under-piston squirter system that supplies even more oil to the under-crowns of the pistons on our 450cc engines, and several of the 428cc engines as well. This helps bring the temperature of the pistons down from all the additional heat that 80+hp puts to them. It's generally only needed for guys racing hard for the top-3 trophies.

Sorry guys, my website is so out of date.

The "A" Beam rods are lighter and just as strong. They are also narrower, so they don't have as much aerodynamic, and hydraulic (from oil vapors in crankcase) drag as the rods are spinning around at nearly 15,000rpm.

CMSMJ1 wrote:I think I want a motor then... Is there a checklist of what I want to get my hands on?

A complete motor and just clean it to death, split out the heads and barrels - post to G force (as a group heads and barrels deal perhaps?)
buy the pistons (do I want rods?)
get some new shells - are these now getting rare?

get in with everyone else that wants to buy Mike a pint and get together for long weekend of engine building and being cool...

realistic timeframes?*

*when do I need to spank my credit cards to get the bits together (or can I save up for a few months)

Agree a "shopping list" to make sure don't forget anything & to help budgeting would be useful. I expect / hope I'm not the only one with these thought's.
Prime forum "sticky" material. As would be a "how to".

Nudge, nudge... Hint, hint.
As eagerly awaited as star wars films or game of thrones episodes, arguably?
An update of developments would be very welcome!

:plus:

Just as an example:
Cylinder liners are 59mm out diam, 55mm int dia. But... in many cases the internal diameter is not concentric to the external diameter, leaving us a side with a thinner wall. When they are bored out to 57mm, we may encounter a situation where the liner is 1.5mm thick on one side, and 0.5mm on the opposite.
Should they be rebored following the previous 55mm bore, or concentric to the 59mm outer bore?
