Re: Deviants nc30 strip and rebuild
sundays ,, tinker on the bike day with no distractions ,
today i finally managed to get the discs off the old wheels , jesus they were tight, and also very shitty so was thinking just buy new ones , but i belive there "ebc pro lite road" (feel free to correct me on this) and have tons of life left in them so a clean up was needed rather than spend a big chunk on new discs,
stiiff brush and some meths got most of the shit off but they still looked tatty, so i wire wheeled the rotors on the bench grinder (a light buzz all round) holy shit they come up like new,
then onto the wheels, needed to remove the fresh powder coat where the discs sit and on the rear where it contacts the studs on the hub etc,
got the forks back together now the paint has had a week or two to go off and harden, new mudguard mounts were a tight fit but went down ok in the end, will defo get the rick o spring upgrade kit so im going get an order in in the next week or so and get that fitted before they go back on the bike,
had a call from brook suspension on sat, he had made a boo boo and sent my shock to the wrong person doh!!, but the chap who recieved it was honest enough to ring him and tell him he'd recieved one for his bike and a completley different shock aswell (mine) so that will be back with me by tuesday thank god
a few piccys

Re: Deviants nc30 strip and rebuild
well the shock is back from brooks , at first i was not that impressed the refurb as it still looked pretty grotty , i know all the essential work has been done, pulled apart, clean up of internals new seals and regassed etc
he's even added a valve to the res for future regassing, but after looking over the before and after pics i see he has tried to clean it up a bit so fair play to the chap , you cant make a silk purse from a pigs ear , so ive given it a bit of a scrub myself and and the result aint to bad at all ,
the main thing is it should perform a lot better than it did before so performance over looks and all that , think ill throw a R&G shock tube on to hide the tatty spring until such a time i can afford a new shock
before the shock went away

and after the refurb , and a bit of a scrub up from me, (note the new valve on the res)

I'll be interested to see how it performs, i had a RS250 shock done by brooks before and it was total wank.

Re: Deviants nc30 strip and rebuild
so spent the eve refitting the shock and making space in the cramped old shed , and plopped the forks back in as a temp measure till the rick o kit gets ordered , tyres will be swapped over on friday , its starting to move forward now but still no light at the end of the tunnel as yet , tons to do, carb strip and clean on the near horizon

Re: Deviants nc30 strip and rebuild
Another sunday another tinker on the bike day, the job i have been putting off finally got to the bench today ,
carb strip and clean , covered in 20 years worth of shite they needed doing , the last time i had them off for rejetting i knew then they need a good sorting out , but looking at them in a block , where do you start ,,,
so i took a load of pics just incase i needed to refer to them at a later stage,
pulled them apart and worked on one at a time , total break down jets out floats choke plunger etc, then scrubbed up the bodies in clean petrol and dried and blasted all air/fuel ways with compressed air, inspected all parts and cleaned them, re-assemble then on to the next one
this is how they were ...

the best part of the day later the finished result , actually was quite rewarding when the top plate plopped back on and all was done , phew , will order the rick o carb screw kit to complete the job before they go back on the bike,
finished job for today ...
