I had a chuckle when you said you'd rechecked the crank clearences 3 times, i'd have done them al least 4!! You know they are ok but just need to check again.
Have you tried anywhere in the Uk for FCR needles? Allens performance are very helpful.
If i'd known you needed REM treatment i could have helped out as my mate runs a gear buisness and has a REM machine, think they get stuff cryo'd but never had anything done.
It will be good to see the bike finished and running.

Actually I checked them 5 times!
3x times with plastigauge and twice measuring with bore gauges and micrometers! Thing is, I am now 100% happy that they are all spot on (Had to swap out 2 sets of bearings to get there)
Regarding REM/cryo - I'll shelf that one for another day. Would have been nice, but the costs were getting high and with shipping to/from NZ as well, it's probably not a bad thing that I'm not having it done!
I've also found a Cam company in NZ with the grinds for the TT-F3 NC30 cams and will get my stockers ground to that spec. It's gonna be sweet!

Mmmm I wonder how much it would be to send a set of cams from the UK to NZ and have them ground would be?
Did you weigh the nc30 and 35 pistons and wrist pins.
The 35's look heavier to me, reckon some of that skirt could come off too.

Got back into the garage today to finish off the heads and bolt on a few bits and pieces. The race meeting I was shooting for is next weekend, so that won't happen, but I still have 4 weeks until the start of the winter series, which is the main one.
Started painting the all the covers:

Rebuilt the oil pump and bits so the sump could go on:

Fitted the BDK race alternator as I don't want to go total loss on this engine:

Got the HRC grinds back from Colt Cams. They are 600NZD a set if anyone is interested:


Also finished porting my heads. It is only a light porting - blending seat to port area, matching inlets to rubbers and generally removing casting marks. Only used emery tape rolls top keep material removal to a minimum. I just gave the exhaust ports and chambers a bit of a polish, but nothing fancy.

Finding true TDC.

Now I'm just waiting on a few parts and then I can rebuild the top end! 3 weekends left....

Excellent work, tell me more about the BDK reace alternator, i thought they were yamaha specialists?

Heard good things about these alternators, a few mates run them on their specials etc. Dont think they are that dear either.
